Tilden Little Farm

Little Farm sits inside the 740-acre Tilden Nature Area, a preserve that abuts Charles Lee Tilden Regional Park with enough elevation change to get you from creek-bottom grassland to Wildcat Peak at 1,211 feet. The farm itself is historic the kind of place where you can actually interact with animals, though the park restricts feeding to staff-led programs only. It's open during regular park hours, which means you've got access from 5am to 10pm, though the Environmental Education Center (the interpretive hub) keeps tighter Tuesday through Sunday hours from 10am to 4:30pm. The preserve's trail network spans over 10 miles, ranging from the self-guided boardwalk loop at Jewel Lake (750 feet of easy walking through woods to reach the historic reservoir) up to that strenuous Wildcat Peak climb with Bay views. The landscape itself is a mix of oak and bay woodlands, eucalyptus stands, grasslands, and running water. No dogs allowed, so leave them home. Parking is free, and if you're taking transit, check your coverage first the park sits in a dead zone for cellular service depending on your carrier.
